Film Journal 3

So the end is almost near. My partner Gio and I have recorded I think more then half of the folly. I will try and record the rest of the sound this weekend, if possible with my crew as well. The folly was hard at the beginning because I didn't know how to operate the mixer, but with Saul's help I knew how to operate the mixer quite well now. The problem so far is Gio's arrival, he arrives late sometimes or he just can't come and do folly because he has something to do. Even though I can't come Fridays and Saturdays I still show up when needed. I'm not trying to say Gio is a bad guy or anything I just wish he can be more consistent with his timing. Sometimes him and I make mistakes with the folly, for example the second time when I was doing it without Saul's advice I didn't notice the hissing noise in the sound. So they had to dispose that sound and I had to re-record it. So far the folly is almost done and I think or I'm not sure I'm in charge of ADR. This is a good group we've worked our hardest.

Film Journal 2

On Wednesday my team and I recorded one of the scenes for our movie. Today I recorded sound that we would need for those scenes. When I came back to hear the sounds my partner and I notice that the sound all had hissing sounds in them. So the Producer and the Camera man request we do it again but with different equipment, I agreed with them and so my partner and I will. As well we are being guided by one of crew members on how to use the different sound equipment. This weekend while the team is recording the scene, I will be taking notes on any possible sound we need for that scene. I hope the sound recording is good next time, the recent one from today when I heard it wasn't really good to me due to the hissing noises. I don't have a full month schedule yet to see but I do know what was going on through out this week. Hope next week and the weeks after get better.

It has been confirmed at the Star Wars Celebration in Europe that John Williams is going to score Star Wars 7. Some people wonder "Why isn't he retired, isn't he like over 100"? John Williams is about 87 years old and is still Scoring music. Williams most recent Film was Lincoln, but most of you recognize his work from E.T., Jaws, Indiana Jones, and other great movies. Did you guys think they would hire another Composer? I don't know any good ones besides John Williams.

So I think this is great news coming from both Disney and Williams. So what do you guys think? Hopefully some new music is introduced into the Star Wars sequel I sure hope so. So far no information has been given to Williams about the plot nor I think if the London  Symphony Orchestra is coming back either. The film is set to release in 2015, so let's go back to the stars and have a blast.
